Green Operations Research Jobs

Ohio State University has some job openings at this intersection. One is a post-doc position with the Center for Resilience, mentioned in an earlier post. The background being sought is a mixture of sustainability and OR areas (Network Modeling, Applied Statistics, and Optimization). The other openings are for faculty positions within the new Center for Energy, Sustainability, and the Environment in the College of Engineering. No OR areas are directly mentioned in the announcement, but it was advertised in OR/MS Today.

A while back, the Canadian logging company Al-Pac was advertising an OR-Sustainability position. Their job opportunities page is here.

Update: The 12/07 issue of ORMS today had an advertisement for an Industrial Engineering faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh. One of the three areas of interest was for faculty with a focus on sustainability. The position would have links to Pitt’s Mascaro Sustainability Initiative. A bit dated, but a place to keep on the radar for this kind of position.

There are probably many other positions like these out there. The press (green and mainstream) has picked up on this general trend somewhat. Here are a few examples:
