Along the lines of the previous post, two recent McKinsey & Company reports cover some green OR territory.

In Climate change and supply chain management, a large percentage of executives surveyed said climate change is important to their firms, but the percentage factoring this into purchasing and supply chain decisions is far smaller. The report suggests that in many industries, a large portion of a company’s carbon footprint lies upstream in its supply chain. I have a feeling WalMart is mentioned in there somewhere…

The second report, Fueling sustainable development: The energy productivity solution, is more focused on promoting energy efficiency for developing nations. See also the New York Times Green Inc. blog post about it, and note the comment below it about Jevons Paradox.
